Once the domain is registered

All Romanian domain names registered with us are stored on our international server. Domains registered with us are automatically provided with their own under-construction page - this notifies potential registrants that the name has been acquired and is now registered. The under-construction page is offered free of charge and may be used indefinitely.

It is possible for Web and/or Mail forwarding to be provided for Romanian domains.

Domain transfer/release fees are charged are by a majority of registrars, but BB Online make no charge to transfer a domain to another Romanian domain name registrar.

Background

It is administered by the National Institute for R∓D in Informatics. As of December 2007, circa 250,000 domains were registered under the ".ro" domain. In June 2008 there were around 6.8 million Google results for the ".ro" domain.

The following criteria must be met in order to apply for a domain name:

1. The allowed characters are a-z and A-Z. It is recommend to use only lower case characters, since domain names are case insensitive.

2. The allowed numbers are 0 to 9 and the dash (-).

3. The domain name cannot begin or end in a dash.

4. A domain name can not contain more than 63 characters, this does not inlclude the suffix such as ".ro", ".com.ro", ".info.ro" etc.

A ".ro" domain name is unique and can therefor not be modified after it has been registered. By modifying any character within a domain name the requester get another domain name which can be registered as a new domain name.

When registering a ".ro" domain name it does not provide any legal rights to the name registered. What it does give the registrant is the right to use the particular domain. Any disputes between parties over the rights to use a particular name are to be settled between the contending parties using normal legal methods.

Here below we introduce a list of reasons why domain name applications get rejected, so when a desired domain name is chosen, please check the following list:

• domain names containing more than 63 characters

• domain names containing special characters except the hyphen (-)

• domain names containing hyphen as first or last character

• domain names of bad taste

• domain names which are identical with an already registered domain name

• domain names which are identical with a previously applied valid name

• domain names with obscene or pornographic words

• domain names with offending character

• incomplete entries in the application form

• names incorporating foul language

• names that are injurious to public order or to public sensibilities

• misleading or deceptive domain names

• names of famous individuals

• outstanding payments

• the data provided in the application form is false, it is not accurate, or it is misleading
